UN FONDS DEDIE A LA JEUNESSE, AU SPORT ET A LA PAIX EN AFRIQUE
DEVELOPMENT FUND FOR YOUTH, SPORT AND PEACE IN AFRICA
Suite au premier Forum International 0lympique organisé sur le continent africain à Brazzaville (Congo) les 9, 10 et 11 janvier 2007, le Général Lassana PALENFO, Président de l’ACNOA a été reçu en audience par S.E.M. Denis SASSOU NGUESSO, Président de la République du Congo le 9 octobre 2007. L’objet de cette rencontre était de mettre en application la décision qui avait été prise à l’issue de ce Forum de créer un Fonds «Jeunesse, Sport et Paix».
Ce Fonds, qui bénéficie d’une participation financière substantielle de la République du Congo, sera alimenté par des contributions provenant des différents acteurs du développement désireux de participer à la réalisation de projets pragmatiques en direction des jeunes africains et notamment au sein des camps de réfugiés en Afrique.
Ce Fonds dédié à la jeunesse, au sport et à la paix en Afrique est «une initiative complexe, mais généreuse qui s’inscrit dans les valeurs de la solidarité africaine», a expliqué le Président de l’ACNOA, dans une déclaration à la presse à l’issue de son audience avec le président congolais. «Le projet de création de ce Fonds s’inscrit dans la démarche de développement de l’Afrique par une action concertée de tous les acteurs préoccupés par le devenir du continent».
Sur proposition du Président de l’ACNOA, M. Pascal AKOUALA GOELOT, Conseiller à la jeunesse et au sport du Chef
de l’Etat de la République du Congo, a été nommé coordonateur des programmes mis en oeuvre au sein
du Fonds.
Le coordonnateur exercera ses fonctions à Brazzaville et dépendra de l’Institution Olympique Panafricaine.
As a follow up to the International Olympic Forum that held in Brazzaville (Congo) from 9-10 January 2007, the President of ANOCA, H.E. Lassana PALENFO was on 9 October received in audience by H. E. Denis SASSOU N’GUESSO, President of the Republic of Congo. The purport of this meeting was to translate into concrete action the landmark decision of the Forum to establish a «Youth, Sport and Peace Fund» in Africa.
With substantial initial seed money from the Republic of Congo, the fund will be financed by contributions from various stakeholders desirous to be role players in the execution and realisation of youth oriented projects with special focus on refugee camps in Africa.
In a declaration to the press at the end of the audience, the President of ANOCA stated: «The concept of the fund on Youth, Sport and Peace Fund in Africa is a complex but generous initiative underpinned by African values and solidarity. The establishment of this fund is in lockstep with the development drive of Africa through concerted and coordinated action of all stakeholders concerned by the future of the continent».
Lastly, upon recommendation of the President of ANOCA, Mr. Pascal AKOUALA GOELOT, Youth and Sports Adviser to the Head of
State of the Republic of Congo was appointed the Fund’s Programme Coordinator.
The Fund Coordinator shall operate from Brazzaville and shall be answerable to the Panafrican Olympic Institution.
