Performances of Africans at Paralympic Games

In the lead up to the Olympic and Paralympic Games, China undertook to offer «two games of equal splendour». Philip Craven, President of the International Paralympic Committee, echoed the point: «These games he said, were great games» and added «I think everybody agrees».

Let me say a word on the performances of the African paralympic athletes. They put on an impressive show that even our able-bodied athletes who performed in Beijing in August could yearn for. Special congratulations and acknowledgement to them for their overall performances. Their perseverance and courage deserve our respect. They made Africa proud.

Lastly, let me take this opportunity to congratulate those African Countries that distinguished themselves during the Paralympics that took place in Beijing last September. I urge them to persevere in their efforts and stay the course. They have all our support.

Come live «Africa» in Beijing! Witness the prowess of our athletes on the stadia and “chill out” in the Village…. Come one! Come all!!!
